Shikonin is a fat-soluble naphthoquinone compound extracted from Lithospermum chinensis. Several studies have shown that shikonin has anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressive effects. Shikonin can inhibit the production of psoriasis-related cytokines induced by interleukin 17 (IL-17) and interferon γ by inhibiting the JAK/STAT3 pathway.
